Environmentally sensitive, fire rated MDF
Description
Euroclass B is an MDF panel developed specifically for use in environmentally sensitive interior applications where formaldehyde emissions need to be kept to a minimum but where a Euroclass B flame retardant board is also required under building regulations. Developed at MEDITE’s world class MDF facility in Clonmel, MEDITE FR ECO Euroclass B broadens the range of the MEDITE family of high performance MDF products.
Applications
MEDITE FR ECO Euroclass B is a panel product suitable for use as wall linings, partitions, ceiling tiles, display panels and cases, furniture and fixings within an environmentally sensitive area such as museums, laboratories, hospitals and all public buildings. MEDITE FR ECO Euroclass B is not suitable for external or structural applications, or where exposure to water or high relative humidity may be encountered. MEDITE FR ECO Euroclass B is suitable for use in internal dry conditions as defined in EN 622 – 5. Boards of this type are suitable for use in Hazard Class 1 of EN 335-3.
Performance - Fire resistance
MEDITE FR ECO Euroclass B has no formaldehyde added to the softwood fibres in the manufacture. The resultant product far exceeds the rigid Class E1 low formaldehyde standards and also the lower levels required by CARB Phase 2. Formaldehyde is found naturally in wood and no wood product can be entirely formaldehyde free, independent tests have shown that the free formaldehyde content of MEDITE FR ECO Euroclass B is less than 1.0mg/100g (equivalent or less than natural wood). The formaldehyde emissions from MEDITE FR ECO Euroclass B are well below general ambient outdoor levels.
